We trawled through the archives for visual material, unearthing some gems of original course descriptions, ancient photographs of the department and crazy booklets about old machines. We also conducted interviews with dozens of staff and students, past and present.
The book was designed to be dipped into easily, so technical essays were eschewed in favour of anecdotes, quotes and simple descriptions of what is often complex subject matter.

We wanted to create a special tactile moments, so inset into the inside cover of the book were six bespoke materials samples that allowed the reader to touch some of the raw outputs from the department
