We worked with Barretts – a community and service centric pharmaceutical wholesaler – to design their brand strategy and identity.
Centering values of trust, reliability and people-first, we worked to develop a new visual language that elevated their people-first approach. The new brand system is being applied to a full suit of media and being supported by a launch campaign to take both internal and external stakeholders on the journey.
Our Process
Stage 1–Discovery
To better understand the needs of the audience we conducted 41 digital surveys and 5 in-depth interviews allowing us to gauge brand perception, pain points and opportunities for growth. We understood that a strong brand presence was an opportunity to highlight pride and trust in customers and employees.Stage 2–Define
A strategy workshop with 5 key stakeholders was an opportunity to understand various brand insights and goals; this was a key step in prioritising the needs of the business and implementing their invaluable insights. Here we understood that Barretts wanted to be known for humanising health – a learning that would later become a key feature of the brand.Stage 3–Design
The design phase reflected an iterative and collaborative process, proactively testing various approaches and implementing stakeholder feedback. We created a visual language that exemplified a humanistic touch – from a balance in warm & cool tones, rounded typefaces and friendly illustrations that captured the light-hearted brand personality.Stage 4–Development
During the delivery phase we produced: a suite of assets for use across internal touchpoints, a style guide and tone of voice guide that outlined key communications; website design and launch strategy for internal and external stakeholders. The final delivery was one that fulfilled a need for a unique and cohesive brand presence while centering values of trust and reliability.
The overarching identity was one that positioned Barretts in a modern landscape within the pharmaceutical industry.
The final outcome was a collaborative effort involving the interdisciplinary client and Local Peoples team including strategic communications, creative direction, copywriting, brand and visual design and animation.
